Patrick Reed has already won one major golf tournament this year. Is he going to make it two? The Masters champion is in contention on the final day of the U.S. Open. It's looking like it's going to be a fun finish.
Reed's story became a national one at The Masters. He and his wife, Justine Reed, do not appear to get along with Patrick's parents. His relationship with his family is not good and some claim his wife is a partial reason for that.
Justine Reed has become a major aspect of Patrick's golfing life. She actually served as his caddie early in his career.
Eventually, she gave that up, and her brother took over the bag.
“We were wondering how the transition would be,” Patrick told PGA.com. “I trained him like I trained Justine. I guess it just runs in the family. He was really good when it came to wind and club selection. She played a little bit in high school, and her brother played a lot in high school. I don’t know what it is. That family has it when it comes to giving me advice.”
Justine still helps Patrick a lot with his golfing game. She goes over strategy before every tournament. Golf.com previously detailed how serious it is:
Before every tournament Justine still plots strategy with Patrick hole by hole, and afterward she debriefs him about errant shots. She rarely misses a practice session and is in regular contact with Patrick’s swing coach, Kevin Kirk.
The couple has two kids together. Patrick has posted several photos of his family on Instagram.
Reed currently sits at +4 for the tournament. He's three shots back of the leader, Brooks Koepka. You can watch the finish on FOX. It's shaping up to be a very, very fun one.
