Phillip Lindsay has been ejected from this afternoon's Broncos-Ravens game. The referees say Denver's star running back has been ejected for "throwing a punch" in the middle of a pile.
A big pileup happened in the second quarter of today's game, as both the Broncos and the Ravens players were attempting to recover a fumble.
Lindsay, a 24-year-old running back out of Colorado, allegedly threw a punch at the bottom of that pile. Video of the play does show Lindsay appearing to throw a jab, but it looked like he could've just been defending himself and attempting to get out of it.
Here's the video:
Here's a recap of what happened from a reporter on the scene:
"Refs trying to sort out this mess. Broncos act like they recovered fumble.. So Denver recovered fumble. Lindsay ejected for throwing a punch, and called for unnecessary roughness. If you get replay of this, can you tweet it to me.."
Here's a longer look at what happened with Lindsay:
Lindsay was off to a really promising start this season. The Broncos' running back had totaled 178 yards on 29 carries. He had four carries for 20 yards this afternoon.
The Broncos trail the Ravens, 17-14, at the end of the second quarter.
