The return of Popeyes’ spicy chicken sandwich has generated plenty of nationwide buzz. Stefon Diggs is clearly excited about it.
Diggs is known for taking customized cleats to a new level. Today, he’s working with some orange Popeyes cleats celebrating the return of the chain’s much-hyped sandwich.
The cleats bear the Popeyes’ logo and a cartoon likeness of the sandwich itself on one side. “It’s back” is written on the other side.
Across the toes, the writing spells out “Open Sunday,” ostensibly a reference to Popeyes competitor Chick-fil-A’s policy of being closed on Sunday’s as well as a tongue-in-cheek allusion to Diggs’ own ability to “get open” during games.

Diggs may actually face a fine if he wore these cleats in warm-ups. Ever since 2017, the league has allowed players to be expressive with their pregame footwear, but they still aren’t supposed to wear any logos on their shoes other than the brand itself.
Honestly though the fine would be worth it to display these kicks. Popeyes should also maybe give Diggs some free food for all the publicity he is generating.
Either that, or they could sign him as a brand ambassador.
