The United States men's soccer team might not be competing in the World Cup later this week, but that doesn't mean the team is on vacation. Quite the opposite.

The USMNT has been competing in friendlies across the world, and are currently locked in a battle with France.

In a stunner, the U.S. actually took a 1-0 lead right before the half on a spectacular goal from Julian Green.

Shortly thereafter, though, a scary moment silenced the home French crowd when Les Bleus superstar Olivier Giroud cracked heads with Matt Miazga.

Miazga was left bloodied.

Both players left the game, and it's easy to see why.

While the U.S. doesn't have a World Cup to worry about, the French do. The team will be hoping that Giroud is ready to go for Group Stage.

France and the U.S. are currently tied 1-1 with time winding down.
