Roger Federer is playing for another championship at Wimbledon this morning, as the 37-year-old tennis legend is taking on one of his longtime rivals, Novak Djokovic, in the final match of the historic tournament.
This would be Grand Slam win No. 21 for Federer, who defeated his biggest rival, Rafael Nadal, in the semifinals. Federer last won at Wimbledon in 2017. He has eight total wins at the legendary tournament.
Mirka Federer, the wife of the tennis star, is in the stands supporting her husband today, like she’s been all tournament.
The wife of the tennis legend is a former player herself, having represented Switzerland during her career. She had some injuries during her career before becoming Federer’s public relations manager.
The couple first met at the Australian Open in 2000 and married in 2009.
Mirka Federer is often quite emotional during her husband’s matches. Who can blame her for that, after all, as he’s been a part of many of the sport’s most jaw-dropping moments.
Federer has often praised his wife for how well she’s handled everything over the years. The couple has four children – two sets of twins.
“My wife does a lot of work, as much as she can. And I try to help as much as I can.
“We have the grandparents as well and all my team members, they sometimes just tag along.
“Clearly we also need some help on the road, so Mirka can have an opportunity sometimes to sleep in a little bit, or come to watch one of my matches.
“You need to be well organized, but by now we know how it works,” he said.
Perhaps we’ll see Roger and Mirka celebrating another Grand Slam win in a couple of hours.
Federer and Djokovic are currently in the first set of their championship match.
