Pickup basketball games can get heated, but one would hope they would stop well short of where the authorities need to get involved. Evidently, one Virginia man thought differently.

The incident occurred at an LA Fitness in the town of Sterling. According to a witness, the game got a bit scrappy, and one many set a hard screen on another.

He fell, got up, and walked off the court, saying he was going to call the cops.

Twitter user @_togs documented the police showing up after the phone call from the pickup basketball game.

He tweeted out a photo of the officers talking to the man who set the screen, who is in the shooting sleeve, and the one who called, in the black shirt with his arms folded.

Another person at the gym recorded video of this ridiculous moment.

That witness, 28-year old Thomas Mulabah, spoke to Deadspin about what happened at the gym:

He had pushed him in the back before so he got hit with a hard screen at the top of the key and flew to the ground got up and walked out the door lol he went to the front desk and called the cop and waited for them. Then walked back in and sat down.

Based on a number of things we've seen across the country in recent years, I really hope this doesn't become a thing. No basketball foul is worth bringing the police in, it is a waste of everyone's time.
