Later this afternoon, No. 2 seed Rafael Nadal will take on No. 12 Novak Djokovic in the Wimbledon men’s semi-final. The winner of the match will face off against the winner of John Isner and Kevin Anderson.
Nadal is hoping to win his third Wimbledon title and his first since 2010. Kevin Anderson dispatched tournament favorite Roger Federer in five sets during the quarterfinals, opening the tournament to all competitors.
The Spaniard will have his hands full with Djokovic who is seemingly back to playing his best. Djoker took over as the world No. 1 nearly three years ago, but lost form over the past few years due to injury.
Back and fully healthy, Djokovic and Nadal should give us a match to see.
In the stands for Nadal will be his set of coaches, family, and longtime rumored girlfriend Maria “Xisca” Perello. The two have been photographed together on multiple occasions, but have kept the romance from the media in large part.
Nadal posted a photo of the couple to his Instagram.
"My partner loves tennis. She loved it before we met. But I could very well have lived with a woman who knew nothing about tennis [laughs]. I haven’t tried, but there wouldn’t be a problem," said @rafaelnadal in the most recent interview for L'Equipe. Nadal and Djokovic had a start time of 11:30 a.m. ET. However, Anderson and Isner are just beginning their fourth set, so the match between Nadal and Djoker will be delayed slightly.
