The New Orleans Pelicans scored a huge victory over the Golden State Warriors on Friday night, and Rajon Rondo had somewhat of a historical performance in the process. Rondo, despite only scoring four points, was a huge part of the team's offensive success. Rondo had 21 assists and 10 rebounds, helping the Pelicans to a 119-100 win. He also did a solid job irritating one of the NBA's biggest irritants.
Rondo, with just under five minutes to play, got caught either attempting to trip or attempting to flat tire Warriors forward Draymond Green. Green, predictably, was not pleased with the situation.
There appears to only be one camera angle of the incident. Still, it looks pretty deliberate. Check it out:
Rondo was assessed a technical foul for the transgression. It didn't matter much in the end, however.
After the game, Rondo downplayed the situation. He told reporters he's just competing.
"Nah, that's his game," the point guard said. "I don't try to bait him at anything. He talks a lot of s--- and that's part of it. We're competing. I don't think it's nothing more than us battling on the court. He's a great a competitor and I love competing against him. I'm just trying to match his intensity."
Game 4 is this Sunday afternoon. We'll see if there's any carryover.
