Carmelo Anthony won't be playing for the Oklahoma City Thunder next season. The 10-time All-Star forward is expected to either be bought out, traded or have the remainder of his one-year contract stretched, making him a free agent.

Several contending NBA teams are expected to be interested in the former New York Knicks star. One team appears to have emerged as the favorite, though.

The Houston Rockets, which boast Carmelo's close friend, Chris Paul, are believed to be the best option.

The Ringer's Kevin O'Connor reports that NBA executives see Houston as the clear favorite.

"NBA execs largely consider Houston the favorite for Carmelo Anthony. Also have heard Lakers, Heat, and Sixers mentioned. I bet it’ll be the Rockets though," he reports.

Carmelo's manager was spotted sitting with Houston Rockets executives during an NBA Summer League game in Las Vegas on Sunday.

Anthony could be a good fit in Houston, even if he's not willing to come off the bench. The Rockets lost Trevor Ariza in free agency and have a hole at the small forward spot. If Anthony is willing to adopt to their style of play (a major question, of course) it could be a big addition.
