Rickie Fowler is one really good round away from doing something he's never done before - winning a major championship.
Fowler, one of the most-talented players in the sport, has never held up one of the sport's four major championship trophies, but that could change today. He's in contention entering the final round of the PGA Championship.
The star golfer enters his fourth round in a tie for third place. Fowler is -9 for the tournament and three strokes back of the leader, Brooks Koepka.
It's been a pretty great year for Fowler, who announced some major personal news earlier in 2018.
Fowler and his girlfriend, Allison Stokke, are engaged.
"Today is National Best Friend Day so I wanted to lock mine down...I WON!!" he wrote.
"Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And happy national best friend day to my best best best friend! I love you!!!" Stokke posted.
Stokke is a former star pole vaulter. She and Rickie have been dating for a year-plus.
Fowler has said that winning his first major championship is not something that he is constantly worrying about, but obviously, he'd like to get it done.
"It’s not something I necessarily worry about. I’ve had plenty of runner-ups. Jack had plenty of runner-ups. We’ll keep knocking on that door," he told reporters.
Rickie Fowler is set to tee off at 2:45 p.m. E.T. this afternoon. He's playing with Jon Rahm.
