Rob Ninkovich, Julian Edelman Injured In Patriots' Practice

Today's joint practice between the New England Patriots and the New Orleans Saints didn't go as well as expected for Bill Belichick's squad.

Both defensive end Rob Ninkovich and wide receiver Julian Edelman left today's practice early with apparent injuries.

Ninkovich left the field at the beginning of practice.

The extent of his injury is still unknown. The 32-year-old veteran player's potential absence could be devastating. His presence upfront replaces that of Chandler Jones, who left the Pats to sign with the Arizona Cardinals in free agency. Additionally, Edelman reportedly slammed his helmet on the ground and had his lower left leg looked at by Patriots head trainer Jim Whelan on the sideline before being escorted off the field. Edelman's injury to his surgically repaired left foot apparently isn't serious, according to a report, but he definitely aggravated the recovering area during repetitions. Clearly, the Patriot was frustrated by the setback he potentially caused in his recovery. Everything looks to be un-panic worthy, though.

This was Edelman's second full practice since he had surgery on his foot in April. He originally sustained the injury last November, when the Patriots defeated the Giants. His first practice was on Sunday.
