One of the best young closers in baseball was reportedly arrested early this morning. The standout relief pitcher was allegedly charged with assaulting a woman.

Toronto Blue Jays closer Roberto Asuna was reportedly arrested early Tuesday morning and he's being charged with one count of assault on a woman. Details other than that have yet to be released.

The Athletic's John Lott first reported the news.

Lott has some of the details in his story:

The Toronto Police Service is withholding details to protect the identity of the alleged victim, said Constable Jenifferjit Sidhu.

Osuna, 23, has been released and is scheduled to appear in Old City Hall Court on June 18.

Constable Sidhu said police would not release the location or nature of the incident, “not because he’s a baseball player,” but because in all cases of this type, such details might lead to the identity of the woman, which is protected.

Osuna, 23, has nine saves so far this season. He had 39 and 36 saves in 2017 and 2016, respectively. The 6-foot-2 closer has been one of baseball's best relief pitchers since entering the majors in 2015.
