Ryan Lochte Releases Statement About Armed Robbery
Ryan Lochte has released a statement about getting held up at gunpoint in Rio.

">were robbed by gunmen early Sunday morning after being pulled over in a taxi.
This is how he described what happened to NBC:
“We got pulled over, in the taxi, and these guys came out with a badge, a police badge, no lights, no nothing just a police badge and they pulled us over,” Lochte said. “They pulled out their guns, they told the other swimmers to get down on the ground — they got down on the ground. I refused, I was like we didn’t do anything wrong, so — I’m not getting down on the ground. “And then the guy pulled out his gun, he cocked it, put it to my forehead and he said, “Get down,” and I put my hands up, I was like ‘whatever.’ He took our money, he took my wallet — he left my cell phone, he left my credentials.”
Lochte, 32, just released a statement on Instagram regarding what happened.
Thankfully, on one was harmed and everyone is now safe.
A one-on-one interview with Lochte about the incident will air on NBC's TODAY SHOW on Monday morning.
Lochte, who swam collegiately at Florida, is a 12-time Olympic medalist. He was a part of the U.S.'s gold-medal winning 4x100m freestyle relay team in Rio and also finished in fifth place in the 200M IM, in which Michael Phelps finished first.
After originally saying this would be his last Olympic Games, Lochte has since said he plans on swimming in Tokyo in 2020.
"I look forward to getting home so I can begin to map out the plans for my future with an eye on representing Team USA at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics," he says.
