The New Orleans Saints have reportedly made a surprising roster move weeks before the start of the 2018 regular season, releasing a veteran wide receiver.

Brandon Coleman, a 26-year-old wideout who re-signed with the Saints this offseason, has been released, according to ESPN's Field Yates.

Yates has more details on the release:

"The Saints have release veteran WR Brandon Coleman, per a league source. It will be with the failed physical designation," he reports.

Coleman, a fourth-year wide receiver out of Rutgers, caught 23 passes for 364 yards and 3 touchdowns last season. The wide receiver has 79 catches for 1,099 yards and 8 touchdowns during his career.

Coleman has been with the Saints since 2014.
