Scottish Boxer Mike Towell Dies From Injuries Sustained In The Ring

Scottish boxer Mike Towell died in the hospital after being carried out of the ring on a stretcher.

Mike Towell, a 25-year-old boxer from Scotland, died from his injuries Friday night after suffering a fifth round TKO loss to Welsh fighter Dale Evans, in a St. Andrew's Sporting Club fight at Glasgow's Radisson Blu Hotel.

He was carried out of the ring on a stretcher and later died at the hospital after just 24 hours.

Towell is standing under his own power as the referee stops the match.

Towell's partner, Chloe Ross wrote on Facebook, Per The Guardian:

“Michael had severe bleeding and swelling to his brain. He had been complaining of headaches for the last few weeks but we put it down to migraines with the stress of his fight. I’m absolutely heartbroken.”

Evans has yet to comment on his opponent's death.
