The Philadelphia 76ers opened the NBA Playoffs on Saturday. The team was without Joel Embiid, who’s been out with a facial contusion for a couple of weeks. This was no problem for the Sixers on Saturday.
Philly got past Miami in Game 1 without Embiid. Will they have Embiid in Game 2?
No. The 76ers have announced Embiid’s status for the second game of the series – he will not be playing.
Philadelphia announced that Embiid is no longer in the league’s concussion protocol. However, he remains out for Game 2 against Miami.

This is still good news for the Sixers. Most did not expect him to play in Game 2 and the fact that he’s now out of concussion protocol is a good sign.
Embiid’s status for the rest of the series has not been announced. It seems possible that he could return for Game 3 or Game 4, which are being played in Miami.
The Sixers looked really good without him, too. Philadelphia should be able to win Game 2 without him if they play like that again.
The 76ers and the Heat are set to play Game 2 on Monday night. Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. E.T. It’ll be televised on TNT.
