College football season technically kicks off next month, and per usual, publications are putting out their predictions regarding what we might see on the field this year. Tuesday, Sporting News released its Big Ten predictions - including standings, Heisman hopefuls and how the league's championship game will play out.

In short, Sporting News thinks we're going to get more of the same. The Ohio State Buckeyes are predicted to both win the Big Ten East and the Big Ten title game.

The biggest surprise could be Michigan getting picked as the second-best team in the Big Ten East - over Penn State. That will probably depend on how new quarterback Shea Patterson performs.

In the Big Ten West, Sporting News thinks Wisconsin will dominate again. The Iowa Hawkeyes are projected to finish second in the league.

Here's what Sporting News has for both divisions:

East:

  1. Ohio State
  2. Michigan
  3. Penn State
  4. Michigan State
  5. Maryland
  6. Indiana
  7. Rutgers

West:

  1. Wisconsin
  2. Iowa
  3. Nebraska
  4. Purdue
  5. Northwestern
  6. Minnesota
  7. Illinois

Ohio State is also predicted to wind up back in the College Football Playoff. The Buckeyes wound up No. 5 in the rankings at the end of the season last year and just missed out.
