SportsCenter Won't Be On ESPN During The Day Starting In 2018

An ESPN sign hanging that's very old

ESPN is taking SportsCenter off its main channel during the day starting in 2018.

ESPN's flagship show won't be on its main channel during the day starting in 2018.

The Worldwide Leader announced today its new TV lineup for ESPN and ESPN2 starting next year. The new lineup features a Mike Greenberg morning show and a Pablo Torre and Bomani Jones show, among other things.

What it doesn't feature - prominently, anyway - is SportsCenter, the network's flagship show (or what was its flagship show, anyway).

There will be no live editions of SportsCenter shown on ESPN until the 6 p.m. E.T. show featuring Michael Smith and Jemele Hill. ESPN2 will have a SportsCenter A.M. show from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. E.T.

Here's the full new lineup, which starts in January:

ESPN is still putting an emphasis on SportsCenter, attempting to increase its digital footprint with more videos through its app and ESPN.com, but the days of just flipping to SC at anytime during the day seem to be over.
