Kawhi Leonard might actually be on the move soon. The San Antonio Spurs are reportedly ready to move on from their All-NBA forward. Trade talks with a couple of teams are reportedly ramping up.
ESPN NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting that San Antonio is "fully engaged" in trade talks with both the Los Angeles Lakers and the Boston Celtics.
Los Angeles has been the franchise getting the most hype, but Boston might actually be the team with the better assets for a trade.
"The Spurs are fully engaged in trade talks with several teams on Kawhi Leonard, including the Lakers and Celtics, league sources tell ESPN. Boston has long had the assets that the Spurs most covet in a potential Leonard trade," Woj reports.
Wojnarowski points out that the Spurs could continue to attempt to repair their relationship with Kawhi, but other teams are urgent to trade for him. Specifically, the Lakers want to get a deal done for Kawhi before LeBron makes his decision.
"The Spurs can still play long game with Leonard, try to repair relationship and get to a place where they're comfortable offering $219M super max. The urgency to get a deal done belongs to Lakers now, but circumstances and leverage can change quickly," Woj added.
It's starting to feel like a Kawhi Leonard trade could happen today. Or, at least, by the end of the week. Buckle in, folks. The NBA offseason is heating up.
