The final round of a major championship is typically as physically and mentally grueling as the sport of golf gets. It was apparently made even more grueling today by one golfer who had to play with a hangover.

Eddie Pepperell, a 27-year-old pro out of the United Kingdom, revealed after his final round that he played his final 18 holes with a headache and some nausea.

"I was a little hungover, I won't lie," he told reporters after his final round. "I had too much to drink last night."

It seemed to work for him, though.

Pepperell shot a 4-under 67 on his final round, surging to close to the top of the leaderboard. He finished 5-under par for the tournament, tied for sixth place.

Perhaps the hangover helped ease his nerves a little bit. Or, maybe this was just a coincidence.

Either way, Pepperell had quite the final day at The Open.
