The Golden State Warriors just pulled off the stunner of the summer thus far. They landed DeMarcus Cousins in free agency.
What makes it even more surprising is how little they have to spend to get the All-Star big man. Sure Cousins is coming off a serious injury, but one-year, $5.3 million is an insane bargain.
Steph Curry is obviously happy about the move. He welcomed Boogie to Golden State with some good-natured humor on Twitter.
"The 3rd splash brother. Let's go @boogiecousins," Curry wrote.
Well, Cousins has developed a three-point shot in recent seasons, but he's obviously not going to be out there bombing with Steph and Klay Thompson, the original Splash Brothers.
Still, it is ridiculous to think that the Warriors replaced JaVale McGee, who didn't even see much action in the playoffs until the NBA Finals, with a player who was probably one of the 10 best players in the NBA before getting hurt.
If anyone thought the Lakers made a statement getting LeBron, the Warriors certainly answered that tonight.
They still run the NBA.
