Phoenix Suns guard Isaiah Canaan suffered an incredibly gruesome leg injury tonight. The injury occurred in the first quarter of the contest against Dallas.
Canaan, a 26-year-old guard, suffered the injury on a fast-break attempt. His ankle appeared to snap while going to the ground.
It's incredibly gruesome to watch. You can scroll down to see it.
Canaan, a second-round pick in the 2013 NBA Draft, has been with the Suns since late December. He signed a two-way contract with the franchise and will be with them for the rest of the season.
The former Murray State star has been in the league since '13. He's made a couple of stops in the G-League. Canaan began his career in Houston and has also played for Philadelphia and Chicago.
The injury shook everyone on the court tonight. Phoenix's young team huddled up together for a while as Canaan was being taken off the court. Many players were unable to look at it.
Here is the video. WARNING: It's graphic.
That injury looks incredibly similar to the one suffered by Boston Celtics forward Gordon Hayward in the opening game of the season. Hayward has been out since with a fractured ankle.
Our thoughts are with Canaan and his teammates. Updates on the injury will likely come out later tonight.
