Texas Tech is trailing late in its Elite Eight contest against No. 1 seed Villanova. This is not surprising.

The Wildcats are probably the best team in the NCAA Tournament and the Red Raiders are playing with their best player clearly not at 100 percent health.

Still, Texas Tech could be right there, if they could just make some layups.

The official number of layups missed by Texas Tech with about 6 minutes to play is ridiculous. It's more than 10 but less than 20.

The official number: 15.

Texas Tech is 6 for 21 on layups right now. It's absurd.

Texas Tech is hanging in there, though. The Red Raiders trail, 52-47, with just under 6 minutes to play.

The game is on CBS.
