The Boston Marathon is underway this morning. Unfortunately for those running (and watching), the weather is absolutely brutal.
The weather at the start of this morning’s weather was “shitty,” as described by those in Boston. It certainly doesn’t sound good.
“The big story today for everyone is the weather,” tweeted Runners World. “At the start in Hopkinton, the current conditions are 37 degrees and raining. Reported wind speed is 5 MPH. It’s a headwind. Looks to not be raining as hard there as it is at the finish.”
Here’s what it looked like outside this morning:

The forecast is rain and wind gusts up to 30mph. Currently it feels like 25 F, and my partner has already left to join his fellow crazies in the 1st Wave.

The Boston Marathon’s official Twitter account tweeted out the following statement for its participants and spectators:
Given the forecast for persistent rain and cool temperatures, the B.A.A. is asking #BostonMarathon participants, volunteers, and spectators to practice personal responsibility in planning for today’s weather conditions. We hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable day! #Boston2018

The women are a couple of miles into their race. The men are about to get underway. Hopefully the weather gets a lot better as the race goes on. We’re going to have a lot of cold, wet, exhausted athletes in a couple of hours if not.
