Xavier's men's basketball program is in need of a new head coach. Chris Mack left the school for the Louisville job.

Who will Xavier turn to in replacing him?

One of his former assistants, potentially.

Xavier assistant coach Travis Steele is the "clear" frontrunner for the job, which has become, arguably, one of the 20 or so best jobs in the country.

Steele has been with Xavier for several years and became the associate head coach in 2015. It would be surprising to some if he doesn't land the gig.

It's unclear at this point what other coaches are being considered for the job.

It's possible Xavier could look at some of the coaches at mid-major schools that had success in the NCAA Tournament this year.

Stay tuned.
