Three People Have Reportedly Bet On A No. 16 Seed To Win It All

The NCAA Tournament is an event that is known for its gambling implications off the court as much as the drama that unfolds on it.

So many people fill out a bracket. There are others who gamble on the games themselves by betting point spreads or other prop bets.

Still others lay down futures bets regarding who will win the entire tournament. Of those people, at least three have reportedly entered a curious wager.

According to ESPN's David Purdum, three people have bet on No. 16 seed North Carolina Central to win the NCAA Tournament. The Eagles have 2,500-1 odds to win it all.

If this seems beyond insane, it is. NC Central has to win its "First Four" game against Texas Southern before it even gets into the Round of 64.

If it does that, it will face No. 1 seed Xavier. A 16-seed has never beaten a No. 1 ever.

Even if the three bettors are NC Central alums, and wagered a tiny amount of money (say five bucks) on their alma mater, this bet still doesn't make sense. It isn't happening.

Oh well. Vegas has to make its money somehow.
