Tiger Woods means more to his sport than any other professional athlete and it's really not close. You know this already, surely.

Still, it's nice to be reminded of this fact every now and again. Today, we've gotten a big reminder.

Woods, of course, won his first PGA Tour event in more than five years on Sunday. He took home the Tour Championship title, leading the tournament from start to finish.

"It's incredible, it really is,'' Woods told reporters. "To look back at the start of the year and to now have accomplished a goal like that, to be a part of this team, and now to be a player, is just -- it's beyond special.''

The tournament's final round, televised on NBC, was watched by a lot of people. TV ratings for the final round have been released and they are staggering.

More people watched Woods' final round at the Tour Championship than any golf tournament this year, outside of The Masters.

"JUST IN: Yesterday’s final round of the Tour Championship on NBC is the highest rated Tour Championship round on record (2000-2018) and the most watched tournament round, excluding Majors, in 2018," ESPN's Darren Rovell tweeted.

Here's more on the TV ratings: "NBC says overnight TV rating for Tiger Woods' first PGA Tour win in five years WAS UP 206% FROM LAST YEAR'S FINAL ROUND. HIGHEST-RATED PGA TOUR TELECAST OF 2018."

These striking TV numbers for Tiger Woods' final round came on an NFL Sunday, too. Imagine how good the TV ratings will be for the 2019 Masters if Woods is in serious contention on Sunday.

Tiger Woods will be back on TV later this week. Woods is playing in the Ryder Cup with the rest of Team USA. The Ryder Cup, taking place in France, will be televised Friday-Sunday morning.
