Michigan State's 2017-18 season came to a devastating end on Sunday afternoon. The No. 3-seeded Spartans were upset by No. 11 Syracuse.
It was a shocking loss for Tom Izzo's squad, which was a national title favorite for many analysts.
Michigan State now has to look ahead to 2018-19. What's the Spartans' roster going to look like?
Sophomore forward Miles Bridges, who surprised many by returning to school after his freshman season, is almost surely going to leave. Izzo said he expects that to happen.
The big decision will be that of Jaren Jackson. The freshman is a top NBA Draft prospect, but it's possible he could benefit from returning to school.
What is he going to do?
Izzo thinks it's possible he could return. He said he hopes to meet with Jackson's family to discuss the decision.
“Miles kind of taught me and said it best. He said, ‘Coach, I don’t want to go. It’s my decision.’ He didn’t worry about anybody else’s decision. It was his decision, and I think he’ll tell Jaren that or he’ll tell me that or anybody else that’s looking to leave or looking to make a tough decision. Do what’s best for you and that’s it, because you have to be happy,” Izzo told reporters.
Jackson told reporters he hadn't thought about his decision yet. It could be a little while before we learn anything. Underclassmen can declare for the draft without hiring and agent and then return to school at a later date.
