Michigan State lost to Syracuse on Sunday and head coach Tom Izzo is getting a great deal of the blame.

Sunday, 11-seed Syracuse, behind a tremendous defensive effort, was able to knock off 3-seed Michigan State despite shooting 36%, being out-rebounded 51-30 and dealing with awful foul trouble. Many are blaming Spartans head coach Tom Izzo for his game management. Others simply note that MSU shot 26% from the field.

Regardless, the loss is another for Izzo against Syracuse head coach Jim Boeheim. As a result, college basketball fans are noting that Izzo has really struggled against the three most accomplished coaches in the ACC.

Izzo is now 1-5 against Boeheim. He's also 2-7 against Roy Williams - and 1-7 since Williams got to North Carolina. He's 1-11 against Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski.

All in, he's 4-23 against Boeheim, Williams and Krzyzewski. It's a tough statistic for a coach who's dominated his field for over 20 years.

The stat below doesn't include his win against Williams when he was at Kansas - as we stated above.

As a reminder - Izzo has reached the Final Four seven times and won a national title. He's no slouch. But against these three coaches, he's really struggled.

Michigan State's season ends with a 30-5 record. Syracuse will take on Duke next Friday.
