The class of 2019 is still the focus in recruiting, and will continue to be until National Signing Day. However, teams are also putting effort into the class of 2020.
The No. 2 tight end in the class of 2020 just announced his commitment. Kevin Bauman is heading to Notre Dame.
The Red Bank (N.J.) Catholic product revealed his decision on Twitter this afternoon. Bauman was offered by Notre Dame in late May.
He’s from the same high school program that produced former Notre Dame star lineman Quenton Nelson, who was a top-10 pick in this year’s NFL Draft.
Under Brian Kelly, the Fighting Irish have also made a habit of landing players from New Jersey. Bauman continues that tradition.
God. Country. Notre Dame.

Bauman is the No. 2 tight end in the 2020 class and the No. 4 player in the state of New Jersey, according to 247Sports’ Composite Rankings.
He picked the Irish over offers from Michigan, Nebraska, Texas A&M, Boston College, Rutgers and others.
Bauman joins four-star quarterback Drew Pyne as 2020 commits for Notre Dame as of now.
