USC head coach Clay Helton hasn't been fired by the Trojans - yet, anyway. We're officially on Clay Helton Watch today.

The Trojans lost to Notre Dame on Saturday night, dropping to 5-7 on the season.

USC's athletic director, Lynn Swann, said after the game that an announcement on Helton would be coming soon. Helton told reporters after the game that Swann had told him better days were coming.

ABC's Chris Fowler and Kirk Herbstreit were saying during the game that you shouldn't be surprised if Helton returns in 2019.

Will that actually be the case?

Colin Cowherd, who's close to the USC program, says that the major boosters are calling for Helton to be fired.

"According to ABC announcers, Clay Helton is safe. If safe now means top USC boosters have told Lynn Swann to fire him, then yes, he is safe," he tweets.

An official announcement on Helton's future could be coming today.

Stay tuned.
