Who are the two married Olympians in the Visa commercial that's been playing during the 2016 Rio games? They'd be American Ashton Eaton and his wife, Canadian Brianne Theisen-Eaton.
Why are the two married Olympians famous? Ashton Eaton is a track and field star from Portland, Oregon, and he holds the world record in both the decathlon and the indoor heptathlon. He won the gold medal for decathlon at the 2012 London games. He was also a five-time NCAA champion at the University of Oregon.
Brianne Theisen-Eaton, who is from Saskatchewan, competes in the heptathlon and the women's pentathlon. She also attended Oregon, won numerous NCAA titles and competed at the 2012 London games. This year, both are looking to do their best against their fellow Olympians in Rio.
As for the commercial they're in - it's for Visa. Here's a synopsis of the spot:
Ashton, an Olympic Gold-medal winning decathlete and Brianne, the Canadian record holder in the heptathlon, compete to finish first in everyday activities (lacing up running shoes, reading books, waking up and more). When it comes time to buy tablets for their trip, Brianne wins the race, ordering them in seconds from Best Buy with Visa Checkout. The couple are competing in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games this summer with Team Visa, a group of sponsored Olympic and Paralympic Games athletes who embody Visa’s values of acceptance, partnership and innovation. The spot is part of Visa’s global Olympic Games campaign, which features some of the world’s best athletes on their journey to Rio. Along the way, they remind us just how easy it is to pay with Visa on any journey.
You can watch the commercial below. Or you can just wait to see it on NBC - it's played quite frequently.
Both are currently competing in their respective events. It'd be great to see both take home medals.
