Former United States Winter Olympics star Bode Miller shared some truly heartbreaking news on social media earlier Monday evening. His baby daughter has tragically died.

Miller, 40, announced that his 19-month-old daughter, Emmy, passed away on Sunday. She drowned in a pool.

"We are beyond devastated. Our baby girl, Emmy, passed away yesterday. Never in a million years did we think we would experience a pain like this. Her love, her light, her spirit will never be forgotten.

Our little girl loved life and lived it to it’s fullest everyday. Our family respectfully requests privacy during this painful time," he wrote.

Emmy died in a Southern California pool on Sunday, according to authorities. She was pronounced dead at an Orange County hospital after medics were unable to revive her.

Miller is married to American professional beach volleyball player Morgan Beck. The couple also has a son together.

The former United States skier is one of the most-decorated Winter Olympians in this country's history. He has six total Olympic medals, including a gold medal for the super combined event in 2010.

Our thoughts are with Miller and his family. May Emmy rest in peace.
