Former Volunteers quarterback Peyton Manning and Lady Vols' head coach Pat Summitt would definitely be two members of any Vols athletics Mount Rushmore, and the two legends shared a close bond. After Summitt's passing last month, Manning put out a heartfelt statement about her impact on his life, and the friendship the two shared.
On Thursday, Manning was one of many prominent figures to eulogize Summitt at Thompson-Boling Arena. He delivered a very emotional speech detailing what Summitt meant to him. The entire ceremony is available on YouTube; Manning's remarks begin around the 52-minute mark.
Summitt passed away on June 28 after a battle with early-onset Alzheimer's disease. She coached the Lady Vols basketball team from 1974-2012, winning eight national championships and amassing an astounding record of 1,098-208.
