It's been almost 15 years since Steve Bartman disrupted an NLCS game between the Cubs and the Marlins, getting in the way of Moisés Alou catching a ball in a game - and series - ultimately won by, well, not the Cubs.
We had a Steve Bartman 2.0 situation happen at Wrigley Field tonight. Of course, it was in a much-less high-stakes situation, but it still could prove to be costly.
FOX Sports MLB has the details:
"Anthony Rizzo attempted to catch this foul ball to give the Cubs 2 outs in the 9th. It wasn't caught. Two hits later, the Pirates have now tied the Cubs 6-6."
Here's replay of the play:
The Cubs and the Pirates are now tied, 6-6, in the bottom of the 9th inning.
This could prove to be a really costly loss for Chicago, which would fall 0.5 games behind the Milwaukee Brewers in the NL Central with a defeat tonight. Hopefully for this fan's sake, that does not happen.
