Tuesday night was Senior Night for North Carolina's men's basketball team. It didn't go as expected.
The No. 9 Tar Heels didn't play very well, but they had a chance to push the game to overtime. Senior guard Joel Berry hit a ridiculous 3 to tie the contest with a couple of seconds left.
Miami ended it a couple of seconds later. The Hurricanes made a crazy, buzzer-beating 3 from just inside the halfcourt line.
North Carolina didn't let the loss affect their Senior Night ceremony after the game, though. It was still really special to watch.
Berry, one of UNC's most-accomplished guards in recent memory, gave one hell of a speech. He teared up (and caused Roy Williams to shed some tears, too).
The senior guard described his roller-coaster career in Chapel Hill, discussing some of the struggles he went through and the development he's had. It was pretty awesome to watch.
You can watch the full speech below.
Berry will be a player the Tar Heels miss dearly. It's not over yet, though.
UNC is set to end the regular season on Saturday at Duke. Then, it's ACC Tournament time.
The NCAA Tournament starts two weeks from tomorrow, too.
