Virginia's Players Were Crying The Final Few Minutes Of Their Loss To 16-Seed UMBC

Virginia players crying after loss to UMBC.

For the first time in NCAA Tournament history, a 1-seed has lost to a 16-seed. The No. 16 UMBC Retrievers took down the No. 1 Virginia Cavaliers in a stunner on Friday night.

No. 1 Virginia, easily the best team in college basketball this past season, just lost in the most historic upset in NCAA Tournament history. Down the stretch, a few of the team's players had trouble controlling their emotions.

TNT's cameras caught a few players crying - including Isaiah Wilkins. UVA wound up losing the game by 20 points - so it was over far before the final whistle.

Upsets are fun. But you have to feel for these guys.

As you'd expect, Crying Jordan memes have also surfaced.

UMBC next gets Kansas State, which took down Creighton in the 8-9 game.

For Virginia, perhaps their most impressive season will end in heartbreaking defeat. The Cavaliers will somehow finish the season with a 31-3 record and a first-round loss in the NCAA Tournament.
