Watch: Kansas City Royals Win On Walk-Off Dropped Fly Ball
The Kansas City Royals won in improbable fashion on Sunday.
With the game against the Texas Rangers tied at 3 and the bases loaded with two outs in the bottom of the ninth, outfielder Lorenzo Cain hit what appeared to be a routine fly ball to right field.
Rangers right fielder Shin-Soo Choo had a bead on it, but was battling the sun as he went back.
As the ball descended, a stumbling Choo got a glove on it, but it fell to the turf and Alex Gordon walked home with the winning run.
Here is the full play:
The hometown scorer spared Choo an error on the play, and Cain picked up a hit and an RBI.
This wild win evened Kansas City's record at 45-45 while the Rangers fell to 45-46.
Both teams are still in the fight for one of the two Wild Card spots in the American League.
