The first version of the 2018 College Football Playoff rankings won't be coming until October 30, but there's nothing stopping us from taking our best guess as to what they'd look like right now. After five weeks, let's take a look at the 10 teams we think would be at the top of the list.
Alabama hasn't had the toughest schedule, but there's no doubt that the Crimson Tide looks like the best team in the country, yet again. Nick Saban's move to name Tua Tagovailoa the team's starting quarterback has led to Alabama having one of the most formidable offenses in the country.
The other team in last year's national title game, Georgia, has looked dominant as well. The Bulldogs would probably be No. 2 right now.
Clemson likely has the wins to be No. 3, but the Tigers might have a quarterback problem after Trevor Lawrence's injury and Kelly Bryant's departure. They're a team to watch moving forward.
The No. 4 team would probably be Ohio State after its big win over Penn State on Saturday night. Let's take a look at what we think the top 10 would look like:
- Ohio State
- Notre Dame
- West Virginia
There's a lot of football to be played over the next four weeks - and remember, the first version of the playoff rankings never looks similar to what we see at the end of the season. But so far, there's a lot of familiarity at the top.
