Why Some People Are Upset At ESPN Today

This is where the hosts of Sports Center sit.

Some aren't happy with a reported move ESPN is making.

Days after massive layoffs hit ESPN, the Worldwide Leader has reportedly finalized a massive deal with a media giant.

It's being reported by Recode that NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski and some of his The Vertical team will be leaving Yahoo! Sports and joining ESPN.

Sources familiar with ESPN’s plan say Wojnarowski will begin working for ESPN in time to cover the June 22 NBA draft. I’m told the network also intends to bring aboard some of the staff of The Vertical, the NBA site Wojnarowski launched for Yahoo 2016.

An ESPN rep declined to comment; I’ve asked Wojnarowski for comment but haven’t heard back.

Business is business, and this seems like a good business move for ESPN. Wojnarowski is head and shoulders above every other NBA reporter and his The Vertical team does great work.

However, the news of a giant hire like this coming at a time when dozens of veteran ESPN employees are losing their jobs isn't an ideal look.

Wojnarowski, for what it's worth, seems to be refuting the idea he's joining ESPN on Twitter.

He tweeted this moments after the report came out.
