Wizards Mentioned As Possible Kawhi Leonard Trade Partner

Kawhi Leonard runs up the court during a game for the Spurs.

The Wizards aren't in the best of positions when it comes to the NBA landscape. With John Wall, Bradley Beal and Otto Porter, Washington is a definite playoff team - and potential top-four team in the East - but it's tough to imagine them actually contending. The outlook of Boston and Philadelphia, for example, is far more optimistic.

Some think it could be time for the Wizards to shake things up. There's been talk of a possible sign-and-trade for Boogie Cousins involving Porter, but according to reports, that's a long-shot.

Could the Wizards get involved in the Kawhi Leonard Sweepstakes?

Maybe.

ESPN's Zach Lowe and Brian Windhorst discussed the possibility on The Lowe Post today.

Beal, a first-time All-Star this past season, is believed to be "available" for the right price. So is Porter.

Here are Windhorst and Lowe's full comments:

Of course, Windhorst and Lowe are mostly just speculating based on what they're hearing. Still, the possibility of Kawhi on the Wizards is intriguing. If Washington believes it has any chance of re-signing Leonard (doubtful, probably) it's likely a move they should make.

Stay tuned.
