On Tuesday night, Cleveland Browns players began touting the acumen of general manager John Dorsey. Not long after, “crazy rumors” began emanating out of Cleveland and teased that the Browns were making a major play.
With the new league year set to kick off on March 13, it sounds like the Browns are ready to make a splash. But what kind of move are we talking about here?
Here are three predictions for what the “crazy” rumor surrounding the Browns is about.
1. Cleveland lands Odell Beckham Jr. from Giants via trade.
Rumors surrounding an Odell Beckham Jr. trade to the Browns have been around for the better part of a year. the Giants could be looking to go full rebuild mode and move on from Beckham if it means gaining significant draft capital.
Beckham is arguably the best young wide receiver in the league, but there have been questionable moments in his Giants career.
New York would likely ask for Cleveland’s No. 17 pick and an additional first-round pick or players.
2. Cleveland trades for Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown.
This might be the least likely of the trade scenarios considering Pittsburgh already said it doesn’t want to trade Brown within the division. However, general manager Kevin Colbert stated they will send Brown to the team that makes the best offer.
Brown completed his sixth-straight season with at least 100 receptions and 1,200 yards while leading the NFL in touchdown receptions in 2018. The Steelers are reportedly looking for a first-round pick.
Cleveland offering the No. 17 pick in the draft could be enough.
3. Cleveland lands Von Miller from Denver Broncos.
Broncos general manager John Elway already stated he wants Miller to remain with the team. Add in the fact that Miller said he wants to retire as a Bronco and this trade scenario doesn’t seem likely.
However, it is just “crazy” enough that it might happen. Miller has been one of the most-dominant edge rushers in the NFL since he came into the league in 2011. Despite his success on the field, the Broncos finished with back-to-back losing seasons and are looking to re-build.
Trading Miller for draft picks or younger players could be the move for Elway and company here.
Stay tuned for the latest out of Cleveland.
