49ers vs. Bears preview:
The 49ers are bad. Had it not been for a miraculous season-opening win over the Los Angeles Rams, San Francisco would be defeated. Like, the opposite of undefeated. The 49ers have dropped 10 in a row. The San Francisco defense has been terrible since that early season shutout of the Rams. In its last ten games, San Fran is giving up an average of 34.4 points per game.
The Bears are an interesting case study. After opening the season with three straight losses, Chicago found a wins against the Detroit Lions. Then the Bears lost three straight games again, before finding a win against the Minnesota Vikings. Conventional wisdom would say they were about to lose three straight games. Well, they did just that. After losses to the Buccaneers, Giants, and Titans, the Bears are in a tailspin.
The 49ers and Bears have played 64 times in history. The regular season series is split 30-30-1, but the 49ers hold a 3-0 edge in the playoffs.
49ers vs. Bears prediction:
This is setting up to be one of the worst games of the NFL season. At 1-10 and 2-9 respectively, San Francisco and Chicago are already out of the playoff hunt.
Get ready to witness some terrible football. A lone bright spot has been the play of 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who has been on fire since taking over as the starting QB.
