A former Pro Bowl running back has been released. Although the move was expected, it's always big NFL news when a former Pro Bowler gets released from his time.

Indianapolis Colts GM Chris Ballard announced the release of running back Frank Gore. Many believed this was going to be the move given Gore's age, and the hype surrounding second-year back Marlon Mack, who flashed during his rookie season in 2017.

Technically Gore didn't get "released" given his contract with the Colts ended after the 2017 season. He's headed for free agency.

Gore currently sits at No. 5 on the all-time rushing list. The former Miami Hurricane couldn't stay healthy on college, tearing his ACL twice, but has been the model of consistency in the NFL.

Gore racked up nine seasons in which he ran for over 1,000 yards, with two other seasons in which he ran for at least 960 yards. Has Gore done enough to run himself into the Hall of Fame?
