Less than a week ago New York Jets head coach Adam Gase was arguably the most reviled coach in the city. The Jets were 1-7 and had lost their last three games in increasingly embarrassing fashion.

But after a strong win over the cross-town New York Giants on Sunday, it would seem that Gase has been spared from the chopping block.

Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Jets owner Christopher Johnson announced that Gase will be back in 2020. Johnson stated that the team would not be making any changes to the coaching staff in-season or after the season.

Adam Gase is 25-33 as a head coach, which includes his prior tenure as head coach of the Miami Dolphins, but his tenure as the Jets head coach began on an extremely low note.

The team blew a 16-point lead to the Buffalo Bills to start the season. Two days later, quarterback Sam Darnold was ruled out for the next month with mono.

Injuries have also mounted at a staggering pace this season. As of writing the Jets have 12 players on injured reserve, nearly all of whom were starters.

But the Jets fanbase has already largely given up on Gase. He'll need to pull off a massive turnaround in short order if the team wants to avoid empty stadiums.

At least he's got the owner's support. In the end, that's pretty much all that matters.
