Two of the NFL’s most surprising teams through five weeks–the Buffalo Bills and Oakland Raiders–have reportedly agreed to a trade tonight.
According to ESPN’s Chris Mortensen, the Bills are shipping wide receiver Zay Jones out West in exchange for a 2021 fifth-round draft pick.
Jones was a second-round pick out of East Carolina in 2017, but has struggled to find his footing in the NFL. He failed to catch a pass in yesterday’s win over the Tennessee Titans.
For the season, Jones has made seven receptions for 69 yards in five games (two starts). He did make 56 catches for 652 yards and seven scores in 2018.

On paper, this seems like a very true-to-form trade for Oakland head coach Jon Gruden. Jones is a former high draft pick who hasn’t reached his potential yet.
It will be up to Gruden to get the most out of him as the Raiders try to stay alive in the playoff hunt as the season progresses.
Currently, Buffalo is 4-1 on the season while Oakland is 3-2.
