The Miami Dolphins have signed quarterback T.J. Yates, according to numerous reports.
This past Sunday, Miami Dolphins starting quarterback Ryan Tannehill sprained both the ACL and MCL in his left knee during his team's last-second victory over the Arizona Cardinals. As such, the Dolphins are a bit shorthanded at the signal-caller position down the stretch.
Tuesday, it was reported that T.J. Yates, who served as a backup in both Houston and Atlanta the past few years, has been signed by the Dolphins. He'll presumably back up Matt Moore heading into the weekend.
Yates also confirmed the news himself on Twitter.
The Dolphins, who are fighting for a playoff spot in the AFC, will take on the Jets on Saturday night. Yates will have just a few days to get up to speed.
