The first NFL Sunday of the 2019 season is upon us. The Baltimore Ravens will try to take their first step toward another playoff berth against the rebuilding Miami Dolphins.
Baltimore won the AFC North last season behind rookie Lamar Jackson, but faltered in the playoffs. The hope is that Jackson has continued to mature as a passer, while maintaining the elusiveness that makes him the best running quarterback in football.
As for Miami, well, they are going to be bad this year. But they’re okay with that, clearly embracing tanking even if their head coach can’t openly admit it.
The plan in Miami is clear: take your lumps now for the potential benefits down the road.
This game is set for early afternoon from Hard Rock Stadium. Television and gambling info can be found below.
Game Time: 1 p.m. ET
Spread: Ravens -6.5
Announcers: Andrew Catalon, James Lofton
The Ravens are one of the league’s more interesting teams on paper. Their season could go a number of ways, with Jackson’s development being the key factor.
As for Miami, they seem to finally be open to executing a full rebuild after years (decades?) of half-measures. We’ll see if it pays off.
