If the Miami Dolphins’ master plan was to Tank for Tua, then it looks like they may be successful in that mission. It isn’t even the end of the first quarter of their first game against Baltimore and they already look like a flaming train wreck.
We’re 11 minutes into the first quarter, and the Baltimore Ravens have already scored 21 points against the Dolphins. Lamar Jackson is a perfect 4-for-4 for 140 yards and two touchdowns.
On the ground, running back Mark Ingram is averaging 18.0 yards a carry on three carries for 54 yards and a touchdown.
As for Miami’s offense, led by quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, it’s mustered just over 50 yards, with Fitzpatrick going 5-of-10 for 57 yards and an interception.
The Miami Dolphins already looked like one of the most talent-barren teams in the NFL going into training camp. But they made it clear that 2019 would be a lost year when they traded star offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil and wide receiver Kenny Stills for a big pile of draft picks.

Additionally, the Dolphins cut multiple veteran players on final cutdown week.
Fortunately, the outlook for the Miami Dolphins looks good. If they end up with the worst record in the NFL, they’ll have the No. 1 overall pick and their choice of potentially elite quarterback prospects.
The Dolphins have also proven capable of turning things around very quickly. In 2007 they went 1-15, only to pull off a 10-game turnaround in 2008 and make the playoffs.
That said, 2019 is already getting pretty ugly…
