In the past 24 hours, five NFL head coaches have lost their jobs. According to NFL.com's Ian Rapoport, Miami Dolphins head coach Adam Gase is the latest to join the list.
Miami, after an ugly loss to Buffalo on Sunday, finished the season with a 7-9 record. It's the second straight losing season for Miami.
Gase, in three seasons in Miami, finished with a 23-25 record and one playoff appearance. Back in 2016, he led the Dolphins to a 10-6 record and an appearance in the Wild-Card round.
The Dolphins have underperformed the past two seasons under Gase. That said, he's expected to be a top candidate for a number of jobs around the league.
Rapoport called Gase's firing the "biggest surprise" of the weekend.
It's unclear where Miami will turn for its next head coach. The Dolphins have made the playoffs twice since 2001 - and won zero playoff games.
The team has yet to make the news official. We'll keep you updated.
